Self described as “an urban, outerwear brand blurring the boundaries between adventure and street style.”, Navante is the latest Canadian luxury outerwear collection to join our lineup at Faded Soul. Their award winning designer Margarita Voultsos brings more than a decade of experience working with industry leading brands like Canada Goose to the creation of Navante’s jackets. Industry firsts like animal and camo print inspired quilt stitch patterns redefine the winter wardrobe. Navante’s mission goes beyond creating exquisite outerwear, they’ve also set themselves on a mission for good, with proceeds from their “Special Forces Patch Jackets” going to Native youth programs that inspire and build skills within Canada’s Indigenous communities.
There’s an old saying that goes “Invest in good shoes and a good mattress, because when you’re not in one, you’re in the other.” But with so many styles on the market, what shoes should you spend your hard earned money on? While footwear trends come and go, there are a few key pieces that every man’s shoe rack needs. These five footwear styles are perennial favourites that never go out of fashion. What’s the difference between an Oxford and a Derby? Find out the answer, and more, in our guide below:
This is the first part in a series exploring the finer details of some of our favourite brands at Faded Soul.

SOIA & KYO Outerwear Now Available Online at Faded Soul:
At Faded Soul we’re committed to showcasing the latest designer labels producing on-trend, premium quality men’s and ladies fashions. Every season brings us opportunities to find, and work with new brands that fit our carefully curated collection; and we get extra excited when they happen to be Canadian, like us!
It’s not just patriotism, the fact is Canadian labels seem to have a unique ability to combine style & functionality, especially when it comes to winter outerwear. You only need to take a quick look around any chic, snow-bound neighbourhood from New York to Stockholm to see that down-filled outerwear from Canadian labels like Mackage, Nobis, and Moose Knuckles dominate the landscape. And now, we’re excited to add another incredible label to our collection: SOIA & KYO is a rising star in the outerwear world, and has quickly become a favourite of celebrities, like Taylor Swift, who’s been spotted in three of the label’s jackets so far this year, including the lovely and versatile Samia Coat. It’s easy to see why Tswift is such a fan (according to sources, she owns 13 of their coats!), SOIA & KYO’s collection epitomizes the singer’s current, neutral filled, effortlessly modern style.
About SOIA & KYO Fall + Winter 2016:
In 2004 creative director Ilan Elfassy founded SOIA & KYO in Montreal (a city that knows how to stay warm and chic) with the goal of becoming “the ultimate luxury brand for simple and refined outerwear”. With their mastery of perfectly cut, timeless coats made from luxurious materials, SOIA & KYO have certainly accomplished that goal.
Inspired by the dramatic landscapes of Iceland, the Fall + Winter 2016 collection features a rich colour pallet of vanilla, honey, moss, ash, storm and black; mirroring the nation’s glaciers and lush scenery, while soft fabrics like luxe wool, double face, and mixed media, evoke the natural textures of the elements. SOIA & KYO’s belief in the beauty of simplicity flows throughout the clean, contemporary, timeless, style of this season’s collection.

Yeah, we know the days are still hot enough to fry an egg on the driveway, but trust us, now’s the time to buy your winter jacket. We’ve been in the parka business a long time; Faded Soul was one of the first retailers (both on-line and in store) to carry two of the hottest Canadian outerwear lines currently on the market: Nobis and Moose Knuckles. We’ve been with both labels since their beginning, and have watched demand for their products increase every year, along with their quality and style selection. Since we brought on popular Montreal label Mackage a couple seasons back, we’ve seen the same trend with their outstanding products. That’s why we decided to start launching our August pre-sales. See, every season, when the snow flys, we’re inundated with calls and emails from frantic customers trying to find the jacket they’ve been dreaming about since last winter. Of course it’s the most popular styles, sizes, and colours that sell out first.
How’s it work?
The pre-sale process is simple. You purchase your jacket now, while availability is assured, and we ship it out to you as soon as it arrives in our warehouse. Come the cold weather and you’re ready to step out in that brand new, trending piece of outerwear you’ve had waiting in your closet since September (while all your friends are hustling to find one, and freezing their butts off)!
What happens if I change my mind?
No problemo! As with all full priced merchandise at Faded Soul, if we haven’t shipped your jacket yet you can simply cancel your order for a refund. Or, if you’ve received your jacket, and want to swap it for another, or return it for a refund, our usual policy applies; and the return window doesn’t start counting down until you’ve received your items.
We add to our pre-sale as soon as our brands confirm exactly what they’ll be shipping to us and what dates we’ll receive our deliveries. Generally we receive the most popular winter jackets, parkas, and bombers from Mackage, Moose Knuckles, and Nobis in the first week or two of September, at which time we start sending them out to our pre-order customers, in the order that the orders were recieved. I think I need a thesaurus.
How will I know when new styles are available for pre-order?
Sign up for our newsletter! We’ll keep you updated as we add winter outerwear styles and brands to our “What’s New” section. Plus, new subscribers receive a discount code for 10% off their first order at fadedsoul.com
So, just to recap:
1) Sign up for our newsletter to keep up to date as styles and brands become available
2) Order your jacket now, before it’s too late. Seriously, don’t wait, they sell out every year.
3) We ship your jacket as soon as it arrives to our warehouse from the manufacturer.
4) Winter comes. Your friends are jealous and cold.
Simple, stress free, get the fashionable winter jacket you want and be ready when the Night King shows up.
In arctic conditions, when your life depends on staying warm and dry, this is the jacket you want protecting you.
With the introduction of the Condor and Phoenix, Nobis has redefined what we expect from premium winter outerwear. These jackets are incredibly warm, and their technical details are truly groundbreaking. While we will admit, the extreme warmth provided by these jackets may be overkill for many of our urban customers, for those who face the harshest winter weather in northern cities (think Juneau, Whitehorse, Reykjavik, Moscow etc.) and arctic environments, there’s nothing else that comes close on the market.
Designed to handle the most extreme winter weather with style, The Condor (men) and Phoenix (women) are the warmest and most technically advanced jackets Nobis has ever produced. Box baffle construction eliminates cold spots, and technical details like a down filled wind skirt, branded face guard, and tab covered window id pocket increase functionality in frigid winter conditions. There’s even a tablet compatible inner pocket to keep your tech warm and improve cold-weather battery life.
Between performances with legendary Canadian bands The Watchmen, and Thornley Ken Tizzard found time to record his solo album No Dark No Light (available on iTunes), and to spend a day with photographer Aaron Tator shooting our fall/winter collection, followed by an intimate in-store performance for some of our best customers.
Introducing the Collective & Flyweights collections; innovative materials and styles, new for FW 2014.
This season, Canadian outerwear label Nobis adds two new collections to their extensive Fall/Winter selection of technical down filled luxury clothing. Having built the brand on a reputation of innovation, quality, and style, Nobis once again raises the bar. The new collections feature the same premium Canadian White Duck down that has always made their jackets among the warmest and most breathable on the market. Being of Canadian origin, you can feel secure in the knowledge that the fill used in these pieces is harvested in accordance with Canadian law, and using the most humane of methods. The same technologies Nobis has refined in their core collection have been incorporated into the Collective and Flyweights collections; technologies such as Sympatex membrane lamination, DWR coatings, and highly breathable, light-weight nylon and Poly/Wool fabrics.
The Mackage company designs are right on top of the fashion’s world’s frontlines. Their exquisite structured and detailed jackets are a leading edge of the trendy military-type fashions. Their focus is outerwear for men and women. They have been so successful that they are actually a favourite among today’s celebrities. Mackage coats are definitely considered high fashion.
Mackage was established in 2000 and founded by two Canadian friends, Evan and Elisa. The name of the company was formed by accident. It was a result of the mispronunciation of the French word “maquillage”. The meaning of this word was makeup. They have expanded throughout the world with many stores selling their brand.
Are you prepared for winter? A warm but stylish coat is the best way to get ready for those bitter cold days of winter. Be both warm and gorgeous this winter with a Mackage Vena, Isabel, or Kay jacket.
